CIPFA CPD requirements
The CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy) CPD scheme is designed to ensure CIPFA members are up to date with industry standards and are maintaining and continuing to develop professional skills.
The role of CPD Courses for CIMA members
While attending training courses is one way for CIPFA members to complete CPD, it is not a compulsory part of CIPFA's CPD scheme. Members have the option of choosing from a range of structured and unstructured development opportunities. Any activity which develops or enhances a member’s knowledge and skills can count towards CPD. CIPFA members are required to keep an annual record containing:
- The type of CPD activity completed, e.g. work place training, taught CPD course;
- The date the activity was completed;
- The number of hours spent on the activity;
- A reference to a piece of evidence verifying the activity was undertaken e.g. a CPD course certificate of attendance.
CIPFA CPD hours
Members are asked to complete 120 hours of CPD activities over a 3 year period with a minimum of 20 hours in any 1 year. Reductions are available for members who work reduced or part time hours.
